“This piece deals with travel in relationship to the New York subway system. The sound that this piece creates is similar to that found at a train station. A piece of steel attached to an electric motor is revolving very rapidly striking the inside of the concrete arc at various intervals. The hitting and banging of the steel sets up a rhythm which remains constant for a while and then changes. The piece can become very hypnotic once one gets accustomed to it’s presence. This piece has to do with a sort of urban meditation.”  RH
