The Final Years: 2004 - 2000

The last four years of Huebner’s life were exceedingly prolific involving five solo expositions and participation in eleven group shows. Receipt of the prestigious Canada Council Paris Studio Award and nomination for the Governor General’s Award in the Visual Arts in 2002 were professional highlights. While Huebner had become actively involved in Amsterdam’s arts community the work was also beginning to find exposure in alternative venues beyond the Netherlands including Belgium, Germany, Sweden and France. The upcoming agenda for 2004, that he would never realize, included various invitations, such as: guest artist at the Kunst Vereine, Karlsruche, Germany, participation in a three month international sound/art workshop in India organized by the Jim Beard Foundation, Amsterdam and participation in a lighthouse project in Scotland.
